What is ClearDMR?

ClearDMR is open source, community-maintained firmware for a family of Baofeng, TYT, and Retevis DMR handheld radios. It provides a clean, actively-maintained alternative to the factory firmware, with an emphasis on usability and ongoing compatibility with modern DMR networks.

ClearDMR is a continuation of the OpenGD77 project, originally developed by Roger Clark VK3KYY and contributors. OpenGD77 entered archive/read-only status in 2026. ClearDMR carries that work forward for the amateur radio community.

Supported Radios

All variants share the same STM32F405 processor and are flashed using the same Web Flasher tool. Choose the correct firmware variant for your specific model.
